We undertake keyword analysis and keyword difficulty – some words are easier to be ranked for than others – the more competitors within an industry or the broader the term the harder it will be to rank. It seems obvious but it is often forgotten. “Shoes” is a high volume search term, but if you only sell ballet shoes, it would be a more worthwhile investment to appear under “ballet shoes”. If you only have a physical premises and don’t sell online then it would be better to refine that search term further to your location – “ballet shoes auckland” in this example.
Regretfully there are a number of unscrupulous web designers and search engine professionals who will offer a price too good to be true, make high and lofty promises and when push comes to shove don’t deliver the results and ranking improvements.
